But don't underestimate the amount of processing power needed to digitize the video or the RAM required to edit it. Based on our experience, we'd strongly recommend the fastest processor possible and 64MB or more of RAM, unless you intend to edit extremely short and simple videos.
And a final but important note: Make sure you have plenty of disk space to store your videos as you capture and edit them; Creative Labs recommends at least 2GB. Software Does the Job The Video Blaster MovieMaker's bundled software covers all the bases for capturing, editing, and outputting video. Don't confuse this Creative Labs-branded software with Microsoft's Windows Movie Maker; they are not the same product.
When you start the analog-to-digital conversion with MovieMaker, there's a pause, then your hard drive spins up to accept the mountain of data. OR just live with software audio like Microsoft intended it to be. Anyway, I guess this is good news and I'll install them, but I'm not sure if I'm missing where the big news are or why you almost had an heart attack? For a second I thought they released a full working drivers set with applications etc :s.
Yes I know about Youpax pack and that but something official would be nicer. It does support EAX in games, just using Alchemy and via software rather hardware - so without any hardware support the X-fi is really about as useful as on a fish. They also sat on these drivers 20 days before releasing them, but at least they are Microsoft certified. They aren't Microsoft Certified. The Digital Signer is creative labs inc. It's incredibly pathetic that they have such half-assed drivers for an OS that has been out months.
There is a bit of sound improvement where the sounds are deeper and clearer overall. At least they've improved something. BF gameplay is smooth now, but artillery still produces static sound at ultra high mode.
Seriously, when will they ever fix that? This is definitely an improved set of drivers. I can notice the difference in the sounds like dL mentioned above. However, it does look like Creative is headed in the right track.
I didn't read the post completely! Thats besides the point.. And where does it say to uninstall the old ones? Oh right, it doesn't. I seriously hope you were being sarcastic cause otherwise you just came off looking foolish. Looking at the Creative driver situation, I am sure glad I don't use the addon sound cards anymore. Its just an assumption since there are instructions of how to unistall the older driver.
Didn't mean to be nasty ;. I'm not sure about that. I think it's simply because all settings get lost when you install the new audio console.
You might be hearing different sound, not better sound. I usually leave my sound on default settings but turn the crystalizer on and the CMSS 3d off - even with the crystalizer off and CMSS 3d on, it sounded great with clear sound and balanced bass.
I have a feeling the Xtreme Audio is either lacking hardware or comes with a bit different audio processor, so an Xtreme Audio drive would need to be specifically written for that card, while the other X-Fi's are much more similar in architecture. I'm personally surprised by the reports of changed sound -- that's the least I'd expect in a new driver, as little as the graphics changing overall in a new graphics driver.
Hmm, not sure I can say the same. I've had so many poor examples with weak onboard audio, despite it looking good with the features "on paper".
For now, look for Dolby decoding in software when you're on Vista. It should work well enough if you're watching e. Otherwise, if you do some multitasking, it's possible the extra hit on CPU may get noticeable though. Basically the Xtreme Audio is an Audigy2 with a few additional features enabled in software only to make it seem more like an X-Fi. It really architectually is not an X-Fi at all. But I think Creative's given themselves a bit of a headache cause the whole universal driver idea sorta went straight out the window.
